Things to see and do in Manchester

The city of Manchester is rapidly becoming the gateway to the North West of the UK. With great railway connections from all directions (only 2+ hours from London!) and Manchester Airport on its’ doorstep. Getting there could not be easier.

For a more detail list of best things to do in Manchester we have a separate page detailing venues to go and do things in manchester as well as things to see.

When staying in the city centre there is plenty to do within walking distance of your chosen accommodation. To learn about the heritage and history of the city and the surrounding area, there are some top of the range museums. The Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) has world class exhibitions as well as a fascinating fixed displays. For some background on another important part of the Mancunian culture there is the National Football Museum too. What will it be, Red or Blue?

To find out what all the fuss is about you can go and see the 2 big football stadiums for yourself. The Etihad Stadium, home to Manchester City, was originally built to host the 2002 Commonwealth Games. Right next to it you will find the Velodrome where you can try a taster session on the track.

The Old Trafford Stadium is home to Manchester United and the largest stadium in the country. Both stadiums offer a tour and have a museum to find out more about the clubs.

A stone’s throw away from Old Trafford is the Trafford centre, good for some retail therapy. The INTU Shopping centre has over 200 shops, restaurants, bars, and also homes a fantastic cinema. Got kids to entertain? LEGO Land also has a corner of the plot.

We are often at the Trafford centre with our private minibus hire, taking work colleagues, families and clubs for bus trips to Chill Factor or for the real dare-devil, a bus trip to  iFly’s indoor skydiving wind-tunnel and learn how to fly! BusyBus can provide a whole range of group activities or themed bus tours so just get in touch.

Still have more time to spend? The Lowry houses a theatre and VUE cinema, and is located next to Media City. This is where the BBC and ITV record their shows, and for our soap junkies we provide minibus tours to Coronation Street studios where you can take photos on the famous cobbled streets.

If you have seen all there is on offer in the city centre, why not try one of BusyBus’ award winning day tours?  You can join one of our full day bus Adventures tours to the Lake District, a sightseeing trip to North Wales or maybe a full day tour of Yorkshire.

You can stay in Manchester for a few days and fill your days with ease! but if you do not want aching feet then as the best Bus Tour Company in the North West let us put a tour itinerary together for you!
